Hi Abbey:
I really like your quotes, particularly the one about the importance of our jobs with some students, as well as "students don't care how much you know until they know how much you care". I believe that very much, and feel they intuit how careful or indifferent we are with them. John Pahls
Hi, Abbey,
What struck me about Colorose's post is that teachers wear so many different hats throughout the day. It then had me thinking about how much is too much for us to provide the support that parents should? For example, when teaching values and character education. How do we proceed if the teacher's values and beliefs for character education are in contrast to a parent's belief? Is there a 'core' list that is expected to be good citizens? Shawn
Hi Abbey, Students don't know how much you care... quote is painted on the cinderblock wall next to the teacher copy machine in my school's faculty room. I know I read that every day, sometimes glancing at it while eating lunch. The only difference is that the word student was replaced with people. I think "people" is just as important as student when painted on a school wall, because it reminds me to be respectful to my colleagues as well. Additionally, there is the parent component that is crucial to a school's community success. Beth
Abbey, I love the quote you used from Barbara Colorose, what a true statement! Amy
